AutoXray CodeScout AX2500

The new CodeScout AX2500 Advanced Code Reader provides access to the trouble codes that trigger check engine lights. With CodeScout 2500, users can access the same information car dealers use on 1983 and newer domestic (OBD-I) and 1996 and newer import vehicles (OBD-II).

The new CodeScout AX2500 Advanced Code Reader — from AutoXray (www.autoxray.com) — provides access to the trouble codes that trigger check engine lights. With CodeScout 2500, users can access the same information car dealers use on 1983 and newer domestic (OBD-I) and 1996 and newer import vehicles (OBD-II).

Designed as the next generation of the EZ-Read 2000, CodeScout quickly identifies the problem by plugging the cable into the automotive diagnostic port, usually located under the steering column.

CodeScout 2500 performs multiple OBD-I and OBD-II tasks. Under OBD-I, the new unit reads and displays both DTCs — with text descriptions — and Memory DTCs. When supported by the vehicle, CodeScout 2500 erases DTCs and resets the EMR lamp.

CodeScout AX2500:

  • Reads and displays MIL status;
  • Reads, displays and erases generic DTCs with text descriptions, as well as manufacturer-specific DTCs with text descriptions;
  • Reads and displays supported emissions readiness monitor status; and
  • Displays a summary screen containing a recap of the vehicle’s emission status and provides a visual indication when the tool is connected to an OBD-II vehicle.

CodeScout’s powerful internal library of code definitions can be used to look-up previous or current DTCs in English or Spanish. Users can retain the most recently scanned vehicle data and configuration. Battery powered for review of data off vehicles (batteries included) and equipped with a low battery indicator, CodeScout 2500 has an Auto Off feature to save power.

CodeScout 2500 kits come with OBD-I cables for GM, Ford and Chrysler vehicles; an OBD-II cable; a removable rubber boot tool with additional surface grip; and a soft carrying case for all CodeScout 2500 accessories. Software updates are available via the Internet. Data gathered by the CodeScout 2500 can be exported to a PC (cables sold separately).

“This new product provides numerous features at a very affordable price,” says Shilpi Biswas, director – marketing & product development Aftermarket Diagnostic Group for AutoXray. “It’s portable, cost-effective, and very user friendly.”

As with other AutoXray products, CodeScout is available at major retailers nationwide or at www.autoxray.com.
